Danish modern and industrial mesh in a showroom
dedicated to the latest in product technology

THIS SHOWROOM DISPLAY TRANSFORMATION caters to the new desire for
contemporary design elements in New England - a true step away from the
traditional, early-American style prevalent in the past.
"This area has long been a tough sell when it comes to embracing change,
but we are currently seeing a shift toward the cleaner simpler lines of contemporary design and wanted to welcome the look to our newest showroom
display,"said Gerard Ciccarello, CMKBD, of Covenant Kitchens & Baths in
Westbrook, Conn."It's a nod to a more updated style where Danish modern
elements and industrial style collide."

INTERTWINING TASTES

In one room of this showroom is a representation of two distinct styles that
work well together.
Danish modern features:
"Abundance of light
"White with pops of color
"Warmth of wood
"Simple & multifunctional

Industrial style features:
"Embrace pipes/ductwork/brick walls
"Metal on walls
"Reclaimed wood/salvaged metal
"Concrete floors & work surfaces
"Floating shelves & subway tile

The Danish elements include flat-panel cabinet fronts with a horizontal
wood grain, a white quartz countertop, automatic upper cabinets a brickfaced window wall and Louis Poulsen pendant lights.The industrial touches
include shaker-style, gray-painted lower cabinets; dark gray quartz countertops, whitewashed wood upper cabinets, floating shelves on either side of a
stainless chimney hood and gray glass subway-tiled walls.
"Reclaimed white-washed ceiling boards topping off the display give it an
aged look and show that more modern kitchens can fit into an older-style
home," said Ciccarello.

ABOVE The island boasts a
2.25-in.-thick Carrara countertop on engineered wood base
cabinetry that houses a steam
oven. The showroom staff is familiarizing themselves with how
to use it, and their goal is to
bake something once a week
and share it with customers.

complete the display. A vintage pendant light above the
island and the "STYLE" sign
were finds from the 2015
Brimfield antique show.

TAKING IN TECHNOLOGY

This new showroom display also features a variety
of technological advancements in products to fit
today's busy lifestyles,including an induction cooktop, glass-front refrigerator, fully integrated dishwasher, steam oven, Servo-Drive lifts in the horizontal upper cabinet and touch-to-open latches.
"Being able to show our customers options is
important, so the lower corner cabinet is treated
differently on either side of the room,"said Ciccarello."One side boasts a flat shelf and a no-pole lazy
Susan, and the other offers a Lemans II swing-out
corner unit that makes contents fully accessible."
Stainless steel drawer boxes in the cabinets are
customizable for different types of organization,
an under-tile floor heating system was also installed in the space as the primary heat source,
and LED tape illuminates the glass upper cabinets
"Some clients don't know what they are looking
for, but when they see our new display they have
an 'Aha!'moment,"said Ciccarello."Others - who
are exposed to HGTV and other design programs
- have the clean lines and simple finishes in mind
before they come to us. More and more we are
having clients asking for this type of look."

