For an oasis-like setting, the team wanted to prioritize natural light. This
was brought in through the tall window centered between two vanities and
behind the freestanding tub. A light palette - including simple white-painted
cabinetry - helps reinforce this feel.
"The entire material selections for the space started with the marble slab
for the shower and vanity tops," said the designer, explaining that the clients
fell in love with a slab that included unique gradation and veining in gray and
white. "We wanted this material to really stand out in the space, so our focus
was on simplicity and elegant details for the rest of the selections, without
distracting from the beauty of the natural material in its slab form."
The marble tile was continued on the floor and custom cut to play up the
large size of the space.

BRINGING IN PATTERN

A powder bathroom always offers an opportunity for boldness and color - or
in this case, patterns.
"Our aim was for light sophistication, and we wanted to reference the color
palette of the living room,"said Bean, adding that it includes touches of blue,
white, light gray and blush.
The wallpaper is a bold yet soft statement with
colors pulled from the art and fabrics in the nearby
living space. It also provides a backdrop for the
marble countertop, freestanding sink, the pink
shades around the sconces and the textural artwork on the wall.
"A powder bath presents a unique chance to be
adventurous," explained Bean. "We managed this
in a way that relates to the overall home design by
limiting our bold pattern to colors that are repeated elsewhere. I can't decide whether the wallpaper
or the custom art is the show stopper in this space!"
FUN & FUNCTIONAL

The bathroom off of the entertaining area in the
walk-out basement - and serving the pool - was
meant to be playful but also durable and high
functioning for guests and kids coming in and out.
Having a completely wet space made sense for
these large groups.This was designed with multiple showerheads and water jets in one open area, as
well as a freestanding stall for more private showers. Subway tile completely lines the walls, and the
shower is framed with white wood planks. The
main flavor of the room comes from the floors.
"The patterned floor tile brings in a lot of personality,"said Bean."It was chosen for its dramatic
impact and durability, and we matched the wall
grout - as well as the bottom of the sink - to the
tiles. This room sees tons of use!"
LIGHTHEARTED TOUCHES

Located off of the office and library, one bathroom
might have been fated for a more business-like air
because of its location. Instead, the client was up
for a more imaginative design.
"I wanted to play off the navy trim and wallcovering in the client's office, and this koi wallcovering does just that,"said Bean."The vanity cabinet,
