This was Wyland's first life-size bronze
sculpture of a female dolphin and her calf.
Dolphins, like humans, rely considerably on
body contact for communication. Mothers
and calves, such as this pair created in
bronze, are often in close contact for long
periods of time. Wyland observed,
"Dolphins are very affectionate."

Bartels had no idea that this
ceramic game table and
chairs, created for Main
Beach, would become his
signature and a City landmark.
Working in ceramics, Marlo
shapes, forms and glazes
each element by hand before
assembling them.
