The ceramic mosaic murals were
created with artifacts and memorabilia
donated by the community, and under
the direction of artist Gerard, this
mural was installed by the community.
This Arts Commission program "Play a
Part in Public Art" was highly successful and includes many precious items
from heirlooms to pieces created by
numerous Laguna Beach artists.

"Music of the Spheres"

"Wave Dance"

This piece was inspired by the 17th Century
astronomer Johannes Kepler, whose theory
was that planetary motion produces the
same numerical ratios found in musical harmonies. The sculpture contains 12 colors
and 12 tones and represents 12 major triads, the rotating earth, the 12 x 12 hours of
the days, the rising and setting of the sun,
the phases of the moon and the harmony
of the seascape. "This interactive work
speaks of the language of nature, color,
music and measurement and the possibility
of using these elements to find and communicate harmony, balance, poise and
peace - those qualities which bring people
and ideas together and gives us a glimpse
of a larger, inclusive order," Nancy said.

explained her work "Wave
Dance" as "celebrating the joy of
watching the dolphins off the
coast. Seeing them jumping in
the waves in their small groups
are treasured moments while
walking, running or just sitting
along the beach."
