Point Beach, a beautifully kept sandy beach

If competition is in your blood, you can
see the Highlands atop a bicycle as part of the
annual Gran Fondo Alleghany, a challenging
bike race that offers 103, 64 and 30-mile
courses that climb all over the natural beauty
of an area perfect for preserving your health
and wellbeing. The Alleghany Highlands
Triathlon is also held each year in May
and includes a 5K run, 5-mile kayak on the
Cowpasture River and a 10-mile bike to finish
the race. *
