The Army and Navy cocktail first appeared during
World War II. Contributing to the drink's distinctive
flavor is orgeat, a sweet almond-based syrup that
first appeared in Europe.

▷▷ 2 OZ. GIN
▷▷ ¾ OZ. FRESH LEMON JUICE
▷▷ ¾ OZ. ORGEAT
▷▷ DASH OF ANGOSTURA BITTERS
▷▷ NUTMEG (OPTIONAL)
Combine all ingredients into a cocktail
shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a
chilled coupe glass.

LIBERTY COCKTAIL

While the "Liberty" moniker suits every branch
of the U.S. military, rum holds a special meaning
for the Navy. Rum is the spirit of the seas, created
in the New World tropics in the 17th century and
transported on sailing vessels. This recipe calls for
a liquor named after a 17th century British Royal
Navy commander, Captain Morgan.

▷▷ 2 OZ. APPLE BRANDY
▷▷ 1 OZ. CAPTAIN MORGAN WHITE RUM
▷▷ ¼ OZ. SIMPLE SYRUP
▷▷ SQUEEZE OF LIME
Put ingredients into a shaker with ice and
shake. Pour into a chilled martini glass.

"HERE'S TO YOU, JOHNNY!"

In March 2020, Cindy McCain, wife of the late John
McCain-U.S. senator, Navy veteran and former
Vietnam POW-posted a series of "Quarantine
Cocktails" on Instagram, including an Absolute Elyx
Dirty Martini in honor of her husband. "Elyx was my
husband's only vodka he would drink. Here's to you
Johnny!" Cindy said.

▷▷ 2½ OZ.ABSOLUT ELYX VODKA
▷▷ ½ OZ. DRY VERMOUTH
▷▷ ½ OZ. OLIVE BRINE
▷▷ 2 OLIVES FOR GARNISH
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass
and stir over cubed ice. Strain into a
chilled martini glass and garnish.

DAIQUIRI

John F. Kennedy served in combat during World
War II and received the Navy and Marine Corps
Medal of Honor and a Purple Heart. One of his
favorite cocktails was a classic daiquiri, which
was also a favorite of his wife, Jacqueline.

▷▷ 1 OZ. FRESH LIME JUICE
▷▷ ½ OZ. SIMPLE SYRUP
Shake in a shaker with ice. Strain and pour
into a glass.

A restless soul, Norman Collins joined the U.S. Navy after wandering the country. He developed a lifelong love of
ships and earned master's papers on multiple sailing vessels. After he left the Navy, he settled in Honolulu and
became a renowned tattoo artist. His art graced the skin of many soldiers and sailors.

▷▷ PINEAPPLE WEDGE AND FROND FOR GARNISH
Build cocktail in a Collins glass over ice, stirring until mixed well. Garnish with a pineapple wedge.
