there are more than just the standard 750 ml bottle available! Many brands have smaller
sizes available, from 375 ml and 200 ml bottles all the way down to the 50 ml.

most choices. Jeter cites Jim Beam
and Jack Daniel's as two such brands
that offer beverages in a greater range
of sizes. They're also more likely to
have a wider assortment of flavors and
specialty drinks. This makes sense,
since they have the financial resources
to experiment with new drinks,
advertise them and make the products
available for distribution.
The spirits industry is getting more
crowded every day, with total sales
increasing and craft distillers fighting
for key positions in the marketplace.
Getting your brand noticed isn't
easy, so companies are trying their best
to stand out. They're adding a variety
of size options within the brand and
developing unusual or eye-catching
packages. This is especially true with
premium liquors.
As Jeter points out, however, this
isn't the case with minis. Typically,
" smaller sizes mirror the 750 ml size, "
but this changes when you get to 50 ml.
Nearly half of all mini bottles are still
shaped and packaged in the standard
airplane bottle design that's been
around since the 1960s.
Although premium spirits do come
in smaller sizes, and even minis, it's
easier to find the more common, less
expensive products in a wide range of
sizes.
" A lot of premium tequilas only come
in a 750 ml size, " says Jeter. A few
examples of premium spirits that are
sold as minis include: Glenfiddich 12
Year Scotch, The Macallan Double Cask
12 Year Scotch, Cointreau, Jack Daniel's
Single Barrel Tennessee Whiskey and
Patron Silver Tequila.
Beverage experts agree that, for the
foreseeable future, smaller bottles
will continue to rise in popularity.
Consumers want, and expect, more
diverse offerings in terms of size, just
as they do with respect to flavoring,
alcohol content and other factors.
Small bottles often come in gift
box sets as well, which are ideal for a
host or hostess gift at holiday parties.
There are so many new spirits on
the market every day, and it's nearly
impossible to try them all. So pick up
a small bottle and get ready for a great
adventure.
