the snake concluded that our house wasn't welcoming. He's long gone. Please, put down the knife.
Oh yeah? Well, until Elvis the snake sends me a
postcard from Vegas I am going to believe that there's
a copperhead living behind my stove. The last data I
have says there's a snake here. I am rattled. I worry
the dogs will discover it. Snakes can climb trees so
how hard would it be to slink up carpeted stairs to the
bedroom? I need a mongoose.
You know what would be great? If my attic tenant
were a mongoose. Can you be a fearless snake fighter
and also terrified of thunder? Don't know, but I believe
that Chubby owes me a snake snuffing, what with me
letting him live in the attic and even cooing, "there,
there, it'll be okay, Chubs" when he's bouncing off the
beams during storms. Chubby can waddle down to the
kitchen and go all mad Ninja on Elvis. I've seen Kung
Fu Panda. Fat can be furious when it has to be.
After Chubs has restored order to my kitchen, I
promise him lifetime rights to the attic. I offer him
one meal per day in perpetuity. If he kills that snake,
I will even cuddle him during thunderstorms if he
wants. When my kitchen is clear of copperheads,
we'll all live happily ever after in our farmhouse in
the country, Chubby included. Now it's my turn to be
delusional.
