Shawn Mullins. Singer-songwriter Shawn Mullins is known for albums like "My Stupid Heart" and the 1998 hit single "Lullaby." Mullins grew up in Atlanta, but he lived a few years in the mountains of Georgia while attending what is now the University of North Georgia at Dahlonega in the late 1980s. Today, he frequently visits the mountains of Ellijay, Georgia, where his parents have retired. Where do you like to go? "Dahlonega, Georgia, has always been a really interesting town. It's that gold-rush thing, you know, so it almost has an Old West feel to it-even still. And what's neat about it now is you have got the beautiful mountains all around-plenty of hiking. You're so close to the beginning of the Appalachian Trail ... But one of the cool things about it is there's plenty of things to do other than that. And the town is filled with really cool restaurants and cafes and shops." Dahlonega, Georgia GeorGia Department of economic Development January/February 2017 31
