one of the (Andy Griffith) shows
was where they found a goat had
eaten dynamite, and they were
all scared to death of it. And it's
so funny. And, in my mind, I
can still see the scene at the end
where Andy and Don were leading that goat out of town."
Cody Morgan. He works at
one of the Mountain State's most
famous locations: The Greenbrier
Resort in Greenbrier County,
West Virginia. For 17 years,
Morgan, 48, has taught falconry
at The Greenbrier to thousands
of visitors. He maintains a flock

of birds that includes falcons and an nnis
eagle owl.
Where do you like to go? Fishing for smallmouth bass in the spring
on the Greenbrier River. "There are
lots of opportunities for that here."
Mark
Woods.
Prior to stepping
into the role of superintendent
on
the Blue Ridge
Parkway in 2013,
Mark Woods guided
the Cumberland Gap
National Historical Park for 16 years at
the tri-state corner of Kentucky, Virginia
and Tennessee. Woods, 56, also became
so fond of Middlesboro, Kentucky, that
he refused to sell his home there-and
now goes back frequently, near the
Cumberland Gap, even while maintaining a home near North Carolina's Lake
Junaluska with his wife, Ginny.
Where do you like to go?
Blue Ridge Parkway. "One of
my favorites is the Otter Creek area
along the James River up in the
north end. It's the lowest point on
the parkway ... But you've got the
river, you've got fishing, you've
got the ponds along the parkway
that you can just enjoy-fish or
walk around. You've got camping.
There's just so much to do
right there. It's a special place."
Beth Flowers.
Beth Flowers, 48,
links artists with the

Greenbrier River
business world. She's the founder of the
AIR Institute, a branch of Berea College's craft program at Berea, Kentucky,
where she follows a mission to teach
students how to make a living making
crafts.
Where do you like to go? "We
have been to Cumberland Falls three
times and to Natural Bridge State (Resort) Park three times ... The mountains are so beautiful. I like to refer
to them as the mature mountains
as opposed to the Rockies, which is
where we moved from most recently
in Colorado; they're the adolescent,
teenage mountains of the United
States. So I'm happier to be living in
a kinder, gentler mountain range."

the Cherokee
Indian

Cherokee,
North Carolina. He
served as the museum's archivist for
13 years and was named the museum
director three years ago.
Where do you like to go?
Museum of the Cherokee Indian
and Oconaluftee Indian Village,
Cherokee, North Carolina. "The

museum and the village are mustdo things in Cherokee. I mean, you
can play golf any place in the world,
and you can watch a movie in a theater anywhere in the world. But you
can't find Cherokees any place in the
world. And that's the greatest
thing about coming to
Cherokee."
Bill Chapin.
Managing the famous
Rock City proves a challenge for Bill Chapin.
But he loves it. It's among
his favorite places in the
world. And, besides, there's
a family tradition at work here
on Lookout Mountain in Georgia, just
below the Tennessee border. Chapin's
great-grandfather James Inman Carter
was among the founders of Rock City.
Today, at 62, Chapin is chairman and
CEO of See Rock City, Inc.
Where do you like to go? Rock
City Gardens, Lookout Mountain,
Georgia. "I love to walk through
the trail and, in the blooming
season, see what's blooming and
enjoy the nature that we have-
the wonders of the views and the
swing-along bridge and just the
fantastic rock formations that really put a child in awe from the
sheer size and drama that is created
by the pathways."
