RECIPE

SEVEN LAYER SALAD
1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
1½ c frozen peas (thawed)
1½ c shredded carrots
1 c thinly sliced celery
3 hardboiled eggs, sliced
6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1½ c mayo mixed with ¼ c sugar
1 c shredded cheddar cheese
Layer all ingredients, in order, in a
pretty glass bowl. Refrigerate for at
least two hours before serving.

GARDENING HINTS

March is a good time to get your
lawnmower serviced. You should
also check your tools and sharpen as
needed.

Plant trees and shrubs and perennials
as soon as they become available in
March. Keep well-watered.
If you're going to be away for
any length of time, keep your
houseplants watered by rolling a
long tube of paper toweling and
draping it from a glass of water into
your houseplant pot.
