Pluto is the only world (so far) named by an 11-yearold girl. In 1930, Venetia Burney of Oxford, England,
suggested to her grandfather that the new discovery
be named for the Roman god of the underworld. He
forwarded the name to the Lowell Observatory and it
was selected.

Deep in the woods of Dawsonville
Forest, GA, the remains of a
radiation test site still draw a few
curious visitors. Built in the early
1950's the test center was used
to irradiate small pieces of military
equipment and the surrounding
forest. Although the buildings
