PERSONAL TOUCHES
Kelsey Webb had known about Hunter Miller
for years, as they were both from Roanoke and
shared mutual friends. When she moved to
Charlotte, she asked Hunter, who'd lived there
nearly a decade already, for a little help in her
search for friends. They bumped into each
other dozens of times, and Kelsey and Hunter
soon found themselves inseparable.
On a visit to Charleston for her birthday,
Hunter couldn't wait, popping the question
on the street. Upon entering the nearby pub,
however, Kelsey found both of their families
waiting for them to begin the celebration. "I
was so touched by his thoughtfulness. It was
the best birthday weekend I ever had!"
Kelsey was surprised to find walking down
the aisle was her favorite memory of the day,
despite having a bit of stage fright. Seeing the
gorgeous mountain view and all of their closest
friends and family together, however, made her
realize she could enjoy the day and celebrate
because she and Hunter were on their way to
becoming man and wife.
The couple honored those no longer with
them in small touches, like saving a spot for a
friend who would've been part of the bridal party
and hanging his hammock at the outside bar.
Kelsey made hair clips from her grandmother's
former costume jewelry, wearing them as her
"something old."
Kelsey wanted their wedding to feel intimate, in
addition to charming and festive. She and her
vendors incorporated personal touches, such
as apothecary vases for table decor, whimsical
floral arrangements and even bringing in
items from the couple's home to display. She
and Hunter shared their love of their dogs by
designing printed materials for the ceremony and
reception, as well as thank you cards featuring
their "foster failures."
"It required a ballet of balancing our aesthetic
and emotions, all while honoring the space,"
Kelsey says. "I wanted us and guests to feel like
they were in our massive living room...with a
killer band and open bar!"
