BLIND DATE GONE RIGHT
A HEARTWARMING CEREMONY
DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY
Caitlin Powell and Kevin Godfrey met as seniors
at James Madison University, set up on a blind
date by mutual friends for a Halloween party.
However, it wasn't until July 4th that they truly
clicked, realizing they might love each other
as much as their country!
For Kevin's proposal, he took Caitlin out
for winery hopping, complete with their close
friends. He suggested a walk on the gorgeous
grounds, and while looking at the vines, just as
she suggested going back inside to get warm,
she turned to see him on one knee. Their friends
surrounded them with cheers and they finished
the evening with a surprise dinner with her
entire family to celebrate.
Caitlin and Kevin wanted to make their
ceremony meaningful, memorable and unique,
and soak up every moment of their day, including
their ring ceremony. Their pastor blessed the
rings and passed them around in a special
bag for the entire church to place their hands
around to say a prayer or wish for them.
The couple took that time to truly see each
guest and feel their blessings, and will always
remember feeling engulfed in the love of their
family and friends.
Other personal touches included readings,
prayers and songs by family members, and
even having their bridal party stay on campus
to enjoy every minute together.
A carefully curated playlist kept guests dancing
all night; Caitlin and Kevin even took dance
lessons to show off a few moves for their
families. They also created an Italian party
favor, where each guest received five Jordan
almonds as a way to signify five wishes (health,
wealth, happiness, fertility and longevity).
They also participated in a "dollar dance,"
where every guest could get a dance in with
the bride and groom, creating quality time
with everyone there.
The newlyweds departed in a Rolls Royce
(a surprise from the bride's parents) before
heading out for their honeymoon. "We wish we
could relive it all again and again!" Caitlin says.
