A HISTORICAL MOMENT

A DAY FOR FAMILY

ENTER THE NEWLYWEDS

Kathleen Fleming and Nick Scioscia met
during their graduate year at Virginia Tech,
thanks to a mutual friend who believed they'd
be perfect for each other. Their first date at
Lefty's turned into a lifetime!
For the proposal, Nick told Kathleen they
were going for a run around the monuments in
Washington, D.C. They started at the Jefferson
Memorial and walked down to the water to start,
where Nick surprised Kathleen by proposing.
To make things even sweeter, as soon as she said
yes, their families popped up to cheer for them
from the top of the monument! They walked
down to celebrate with the newly engaged
couple, completing the wonderful surprise.

The couple chose to have their ceremony at
the War Memorial Chapel on Virginia Tech's
campus, as the couple had attended Catholic
mass there throughout college, even before
they knew each other.
Kathleen chose a navy and blush color
palette, with flowers and bouquets that perfectly
complemented the elegant theme. She recalls
how beautifully decorated the reception was,
as it was incredible to walk in and see the
tables, centerpiece and flowers set up just as
she'd imagined. Their wedding also allowed
them to show off their alma mater to friends
and family, and have them experience how
special Blacksburg is to the couple.

As the couple both enjoy dancing, they were
excited to start the party with great music and
a DJ that did an excellent job getting people
on the dance floor - including jumping along
with their friends to the well-known "Enter
Sandman," a staple in any Hokie graduate's
memories! Even the Hokie bird made a special
appearance.
"That's my favorite memory - walking out
to the cocktail hour to be introduced as bride
and groom with the Hokie bird!" Kathleen says.
The newlyweds also add that it was simply
incredible to see all their family and friends
together in one place! That made the day
truly special, and a day they'll never forget.
