LONG-DISTANCE LOVE

VIRGINIA IS FOR WEDDING LOVERS

DADDY'S GIRL

Lacey McMahan and Alex Welch met at the
end of their junior year at Radford University,
introduced by a dear friend. They stayed in
touch over the summer, reconnecting when
senior year began and becoming official about
a month before graduation. Though the first
year and a half of their relationship was longdistance, Alex secured a job in Nashville and
the two were reunited for good.
The couple chose to escape a Tennessee snow
storm, heading to a quick Florida getaway.
Lacey and Alex were walking along the beach
during sunset when he asked a passerby to take
their photo. Before she knew it, he'd proposed
and they celebrated with dinner by the ocean.

The couple chose colors of navy and blush,
with white, blush and greenery for bouquets
and floral arrangements. Their simple, intimate
ceremony took place by the creek, and was
officiated by Lacey's longtime family preacher
in front of their 170 guests.
Because the couple currently lives in Nashville,
they don't often get much time with their
friends and family back in Virginia. Their
wedding created the perfect opportunity to
gather, and they all spent a few days at the
venue, creating a weekend celebration. With
several bedrooms, ceremony space, a barn
and reception pavilion, Lacey, Alex and their
wedding party spent quality time together.

Crawford and Power, a band who has opened
for Willie Nelson, Marshall Tucker Band and
other country stars, are family friends, and
played music during their cocktail hour. The
newlyweds' traditional reception ended with
a beautiful sparkler exit.
While seeing Alex's emotion as she walked
down the aisle is an incredible memory, Lacey
will never forget her father and daughter
dance. She and her father are best friends,
and from the time she was a little girl, she
and her dad would always talk about how they
would dance at her wedding to "I Loved Her
First." This special moment was a lifetime in
the making.
