A BIRTHDAY SURPRISE
A DAY FOR FAMILY
Kasey Smith and Nicholas Robertson met
through mutual friends, eventually connecting at
a friend's house party. Over the next few months,
the two grew close, growing to be best friends.
While at a cookout together, they stayed up all
night talking, and in the early morning hours,
Nick asked if he could kiss her. He and Kasey
have been inseparable ever since.
On her birthday, Kasey had returned to work
from her lunch break, and thought it was like
any other Tuesday. She planned to meet Nick
for dinner, but when a coworker asked Kasey
to come downstairs, she found him at the front
door. In front of a crowd of coworkers, Nick got
down on one knee to propose.
Choosing a palette was easy for the couple, who
both love the color purple. Kasey spent an entire
year making her decor from scratch, including
her signage and flowers. Made from balsa wood,
she hand-dyed, stemmed and arranged the Sola
Wood flowers herself!
"Everything turned out to be exactly as I
envisioned," Kasey says. "And I can't forget the
best DJ and wedding coordinator, who are great
friends of mine, as they kept me at ease during
the day and executed everything flawlessly!"

KEEPING WARM TOGETHER
Kasey doesn't hesitate when thinking about
her favorite memory - a prank on Nick! She'd
been inspired by an online video, and worked
with Nick's cousin, also the best man, to help
her pull it off. With the help of her sister-inlaw and photographer, Kasey arranged a First
Look with Nick, keeping his back to the lineup.
Nick, who was a total mess waiting for
the big reveal, felt someone lovingly caress
his back. Turning to find his bride, Nick was
instead shocked to see his best man dolled up
in a wedding dress!
"I was watching from a window upstairs
when Nick turned around and completely lost
it," Kasey says. "I've never seen him laugh so
hard. It helped calm everyone's nerves before
the big moment, too! It was a great moment I
will never forget."
