The population of Americans 65 and older is expected to double in the next 25 years.

More than 30 percent of adults 65 and older have
experienced a fall with injury in the past year.

In Virginia, older adults report 5.3 physically unhealthy days in the most recent month. The national
average is 5.5. (Physically unhealthy days are from
pain, discomfort and impairments associated with
common chronic diseases and conditions that increase with age-arthritis, back and neck pain, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer.)

Older adults should do 150 minutes of moderateintensity aerobic activity (such as brisk walking) or 75
minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity (jogging
or running) every week.
