Q: Please share a brief history of your
company.
A: Founded by Wendy and Mark
Lucas in 1992, Lucas Therapies
is locally owned with multiple
locations throughout the region
specializing in outpatient
orthopedics, sports and industrial
medicine, aquatic therapy as well
as personal training and nutrition
all in a private practice setting
with patient outcomes ranking in
the top 5% nationally. There are
also two mobile clinics providing
services up to 250 miles away.

A: Outpatient physical and
occupational therapy, postsurgical or injury rehab, Industrial
Rehab, onsite worksite and
ergonomic assessments, work
hardening, TMJ rehab, aquatic
therapy, EMG/nerve conduction
studies, Functional Capacity
Evaluations and Impairment

Ratings, pre-employment tests,
personal training and nutrition
consultations, vestibular and
concussion rehab and much
more. Lucas Therapies also owns
180 Fitness, a highly personalized
and results-driven personal
training facility.
Q: What's your favorite part of the job?
A: Seeing the smile of a patient
upon reaching their goals in
rehabilitation. Patients come to
us in a time of need, but when
they leave they feel better and we
have made a new friend.
Q: What does it mean to be
recognized as a "Best of 2018" award
winner?
A: It is a tremendous honor to
be recognized for so many years
of hard work. To us, this is the
ultimate award. Voted as the best
physical therapy practice by the
residents of this region is truly
humbling and we are so grateful!

Q: What is unique about your venue
that sets it apart?
A: The Harvester has a magical
quality about it. There is
something very special that goes
on inside its walls. The audiences

get it, the artists that play get it
and almost every night a beautiful
love fest breaks out. The sound,
lighting, sight lines are stellar and
second to none. Folks who are
fans of live music are now huge
fans of the Harvester because they
know when they attend a concert,
they are in for a real treat and a
nice boost for their quality of life.
Shows remain special and linger
into all aspects of their lives.
Q: What does it mean to be recognized
as a "Best of 2018" award winner?
A: It's humbling and a sweet
reminder to myself, the staff, the
volunteers that all our hard work
setting the table each night does
not go unnoticed. That keeping
live music fresh and alive, vibrant
and humble has and continues to
grow a sweet family of like-minded
souls, joining together by the beat,
melody, stories and more.

Q: How did your career path lead you
to your current position?
A: I've spent my entire adult
life living in, around and part of
producing live music, and after
moving to the Roanoke area, I
helped develop the very successful
Kirk Avenue Music Hall, which
still exist today as The Spot on
Kirk. The town of Rocky Mount
wanted to develop a world-class
venue as an engine to generate
economic development, and
I came on board using my 50
years of experience to help them
accomplish this goal. Using tax
revenue generated and other
markers since the Harvester came
on board, we are meeting these
goals and then some.
