BETH SHERMAN
COX BUSINESS
While some may think of Cox as just internet, cable
and phone for your home, they are so much more. Cox
Business supports all types of businesses from small
to federal, state and local governments, to schools
and hospitals and even biomedical research facilities.
As sales manager for Cox Business in Roanoke, Beth
Sherman wants every customer to reach their business
goals.
"I love that I get to work with all different kinds of people,
from the IT savvy engineer to the person running the
mom and pop shop doing everything themselves,"
Sherman says.
"It's a privilege to learn about my customers, their
passions and how they define success. Then, I work
with my team to help them find the right technology
solutions that fit their needs for their industry. I get to
help make their business dreams a reality!"
Sherman is an accomplished, dynamic and consistent
leader in advertising and telecom sales, with a combined
20+ years of leadership experience. While she has spent
half of her career in advertising, she committed herself
to learning all about technology.
There were not many women in tech when she started,
but as more focus is put on STEM education for girls,
and as women continue to explore IT careers, it will no
longer be rare to see them in leadership roles.
"To all the ladies out there interested in technology,
don't be afraid," Sherman advises. "Take the leap, find
a good mentor and ask questions. I love that I'm seeing
more women of all generations around the room when
I go to meetings or conferences - but we could always
use more!"
Sherman has moved around in her career, but is originally
from this region, and made it a priority to return home.
For her, Roanoke is a great place to live, raise a family
and work or own a business.
"I'm a firm believer in 'you get out of it what you put
into it,'" Sherman says. "To me, our community is only
as good as the investments we make into it."

She is an active volunteer at Bethany Hall , and
consistently supports Cox Charities, Cox's charitable
giving arm. In addition, she has served on various
community boards as a Cox Business representative,
and does it because she feels it's the right thing to do.
