Abnormal Blower Noise
2005-2011 Toyota Tacoma Some 2005-2011 Toyota Tacoma vehicles may exhibit abnormal blower noises such as a ticking and/or clicking noise or a squealing noise. Toyota says the best option is to replace the blower motor and fan assembly. While this has been a minor problem over the last several model years, Toyota has now consolidated the entire range of years and replacement part numbers to use one current replacement part. First, confirm that the noise is emanating from the blower, then disconnect the negative battery cable. Next, disconnect the two retaining clips and the blower motor 2-pin connector shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1 Remove the three mounting bolts shown in Figure 2 and remove the blower motor.
Figure 2 The new replacement blower motor and fan assembly (P/N 87103-04043) supersedes all previously issued part numbers. Install the new blower motor and three mounting bolts shown in Figure 2 and connect the 2-pin blower motor connector and the two clips shown in Figure 1. Lastly, reconnect the battery negative cable and confirm the blower motor operates correctly without the presence of noise before returning the vehicle to the customer.
