Leaking A/C Condenser
he Ford Edge and its upscale sister, the Lincoln MXK, have been relatively free of HVAC problems. However some 2010 models have experienced a lack of cooling. This may be caused by a loss of refrigerant due to transmission cooler lines rubbing against the A/C condenser tubing and creating a leak.
The repair procedure is to replace any damaged retaining clips, replace the A/C condenser and install a special abrasion protection service kit. First, evacuate the A/C system then remove the condenser according to the proper service information. Inspect the transmission fluid cooler tube retaining clips indicated by arrows in the diagram. If broken or not fully seated, replace with new clips (P/N W714472-S300). Next, install a special A/C Condenser Abrasion Protection Service Kit (P/N AT4Z-19712-A) following the enclosed instructions. Install the replacement A/C Condenser Assembly (P/N 7T4Z19708-B) and recharge the system according to the proper service information.
