Posen,VP Sales and Marketing M any people in mobile A/C industry circles remember long-time MACS member Kevin Burton from his leadership roles within several industry manufacturers. Over the last year, Kevin has undertaken a new challenge as the owner of Cavalry Air in Ft. Worth, TX. "After spending over 25 years working for the industry's most recognized companies, I developed the expertise and desire to make a go of it on my own. In October 2012, Cavalry Air was born and two months later we completed the asset purchase of Hot Air, Inc. Our future holds many possibilities and we consider it an honor to be a member of such a great industry," Kevin explained. Cavalry Air is a distributor specializing in a full line of mobile HVAC components. The company supplies both new and remanufactured compressors, accumulators, filter driers, expansion devices, evaporators, condensers, heater cores, radiators, blower motors, radiator fan motors, cooling fan assemblies, fan clutches, heater valves, water outlets, bulk hose, fittings, service tools, chemicals and equipment. Kevin explains, "Our product offerings expand beyond the typical passenger car and light duty truck application. We have products and services for many types of vehicles, off-road and over-the-road included." "Cavalry Air's business is 80% mobile air conditioning, 20% engine cooling system support and 0% general automotive," Kevin reports. Asked what he wishes every one of his customers should know about Cavalry Air, Kevin is not shy to respond, "Cavalry Air is unique: In these days of mergers and acquisitions, divestitures of businesses, etc., Cavalry Air is an American start-up company that looks to fill gaps in the North American automotive air conditioning aftermarket. We are capable: 16 ACTION * November/December 2013 Although a new company, Cavalry Air has the product category knowledge, industry experience, strong supply chain understanding, and the critical insight of knowing what aftermarket distributors, retailers and technicians need to increase their air conditioning sales and profits. Cavalry Air is experienced: Our diverse leadership has more than 100 years of experience in the global air conditioning aftermarket. Skill sets range from sales and marketing to operations and manufacturing to supply chain, inventory and vendor management and to everything in between. We are also flexible: Because it is a smaller company, Cavalry Air can act quickly in responding to its customers' needs." Kevin Burton of How does Kevin as a business Cavalry Air owner view the potential change in refrigerant, having experienced the change from R-12 to R-134a? "The biggest concern I have regarding any changes to refrigerant type, is the ability of government and industry to agree on the proper training and certification required to service and repair the vehicle. In my opinion, there needs to be a higher standard for both the servicing dealers and the manufacturers and suppliers to perform service and repair or supply replacement parts for these equipped vehicles."
