In this particular case, there were no trouble codes
for the coolant temperature sensor, but the fan didn't
run on medium speed. The relay operated properly
and there was a B+ feed to the fan motor's terminal

Figure 8: This is the circuit diagram for the three-speed cooling fan on the 2012 Cruze. The five-relay circuit goes through the
multi-speed sequence when the engine control module grounds terminal 41 (at right), which closes the cooling fan relay and the
low-speed relay, completing the circuit through one resistor to the motor, putting the fan in low speed. The ECM next grounds
ECM No. 54 (lower left of diagram), which closes the medium-speed relay, completing the circuit through a second resistor to
the motor, and the fan runs at medium speed. Finally, both ECM terminals are grounded, which completes the high-speed relay
circuit, bypassing both resistors and the fan runs at high speed.
