Today, both tribes have reservations near Yuma, as well as small museums that explore their heritage. The Mohave and Chemehuevi, whose legacies in the area date back thousands of years, form the Colorado River Indian Tribes (CRIT) with members of the Hopi and Navajo nations, relocated to the region in 1865. Parker’s CRIT Museum showcases cultural artifacts of the group, today best known for the splashy BlueWater Resort & Casino. You can also learn about the Mohave and the region’s other native peoples at the Mohave Museum of History & Arts in Kingman. The Hualapai, whose tribal headquarters are in Peach Springs to the northwest, include the Grand Canyon Skywalk and rafting excursions on the Colorado River among their tourism enterprises.
