ARTS & CRAFTS
Many of Sedona’s galleries, featuring everything from contemporary abstract painting to traditional Western sculpture, are concentrated in Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village, but arty enclaves also dot Highway 179 just south of town en route to Cottonwood. Sedona’s First Friday Gallery Tours are a great way to explore the scene in this renowned arts community. Nearby, Jerome also hosts monthly First Saturday art walks, and shops purveying pottery, jewelry, weavings and kaleidoscopes line the town’s main drag. The woodsy twin communities of Pine and Strawberry specialize in country crafts, including quilts.
OFFBEAT AZ
Jerome was named for Eugene Murray Jerome, a New York investor who owned its mineral rights and financed its mining operations but never visited his namesake town.
Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village in Sedona boasts an impressive roster of fine art galleries.
