Company
Courtney Servaes's namesake brewery is
the only one in the Kansas City area to be
both owned and operated by a woman.
The Shawnee brewery takes "all good
things must come to an end" and makes
the mantra its mission, creating and serving a near-constant rotation of beers.
"We're always doing new things, events,
we're always turning over the taps, and the
idea is even if you come in twice in the
same week, you'll have a different experience," she says.
In an ever-crowding craft-beer space,
this entrepreneur sets herself-and her
beer-apart with variety and enthusiasm.
What was once a hobby is now her full-time
job, and people are driving from as far away
as Texas to try it.
But Servaes Brewing Company isn't just
for adults-Courtney and her son make
craft soda so kids can also try something
new alongside their parents.

TAMARA DAY
Bargain Mansions
Home improvement and design have
been part of Tamara Day's life for
years and in various forms. Several
years ago, she made a habit of flipping houses and furnishing them. The
quirk? Anything seen inside was for
sale.
Opening the houses up for the
weekend and inviting food trucks to
cater drew crowds of more than 1,000
people-and created a loyal following,
thanks to her eye for design. Day's
passion for renovating old homes was
so popular, it even caught the attention of television's DIY Network, which
created and cast her in the hit reality
show Bargain Mansions, which now
also airs on HGTV.
What's next for the mom, reality
star and owner of the interior design
business, Growing Days? A shop in
Prairie Village, which Day says "will
have all of the gorgeous things you see
on the show and then some."
