TOM MOORS PERRY BAKER In the shadow of Table Rock Mountain along Highway 11 in South Carolina's Upstate, Table Rock State Park encompasses 3,000 acres along the magical Blue Ridge Mountains. With two lakes, fishing for bass, bream and catfish is a highlight. Pinnacle Lake also has a seasonal swimming hole with a diving board and beach. Boating is plentiful with a boat ramp on Lake Oolenoy for electric and paddle-powered boats and rental watercraft at Pinnacle Lake. The extensive trail system in Table Rock State Park carries hikers past streams and waterfalls to the top of Table Rock and Pinnacle mountains. There are also access points for the 80-mile Foothills Trail and statewide Palmetto Trail. Other waterfalls in the area include Jones Gap Falls and Raven Cliff Falls- one of the Upcountry's most scenic and dramatic waterfalls with a 400-foot drop. The park offers 14 renovated cabins- most of which were CCC-built. The cabins have rustic exteriors with cozy interiors, wood-burning fireplaces and screened porches.
