Chapter 6. 7D Certificates 7D Certificates A 7D School Pupil Transport Certificate is required for operators of school pupil transport vehicles. These vehicles are generally vans and station wagons and they are allowed to carry a maximum of eight passengers. Obtaining a 7D Certificate As part of the process of obtaining a 7D Certificate, an applicant must pass a written test at an RMV branch and pay a $15 certificate fee. The application and an additional $15 fee are forwarded to the Vehicle Safety and Compliance Services department for final approval, which will include the following: * A criminal record check (CORI) * A sex offender registry information check (SORI) * A driving record check If approved, the 7D Certificate will be mailed directly to the applicant. An applicant is not permitted to operate a 7D vehicle until he/she has received the 7D Certificate and has it in his/her possession. Applicants who pass the written exam and pay the certificate fees must realize that they must wait for the 7D Certificate to arrive before operating a 7D vehicle. Upon receiving the 7D certificate, operators must always carry it with them when operating 7D vehicles. New 7D Certificate Acknowledgement Form A new 7D certificate Acknowledgement Form has been created. This form is given to a customer before he/she takes a 7D written exam. The customer must acknowledge that a 7D vehicle can only be operated once he/she has received the 7D certificate.
