Chapter 7. Suspension Hearings Understanding the Hearing Process Customer needs to be prepared to: * Bring all necessary documents to their hearing. Check what documents will be needed for the hearing, as it varies depending on the type of suspension. * Arrive as early as possible and allow extra time. * If the customer is applying for a limited (hardship) license, it is recommended that they arrive at the RMV no later than 3:00 pm * Chemical test refusal hearings are only held at the Boston/Haymarket Service Center On the day of the Hearing: * The customer will be given an application to complete when they arrive at the RMV * Make sure the application has been fully completed * Place the application in the designated Hearings Office Mailbox * The Hearing's Officer will collect the applications submitted. The Hearing's Officer will verify the accuracy of the suspension and review the application in advance of the hearing. * The applications are numbered. However, you will be called by name * The hearing may require specific documentation * The Hearing's Officer may need to spend time researching and retrieving documentation as it relates to the clients case. In some cases, they will need to request documentation from another agency or organization and wait for the response, which takes time. * As a result, customers may be called out of order. What is needed to be successful * If the client is successful, they may need to apply or re-apply for a driver's license or learner's permit.
