Chapter 1-12 Salvage Vehicle Process Out-Of-State Salvage Titles After May 1, 1991: If you purchase an out-of-state salvage vehicle that was deemed salvage after May 1, 1991, the vehicle must be submitted for a salvage inspection. The consumer will need to go to an RMV branch office prior to the inspection and bring with them a completed Application for Inspection of a Salvaged Motor Vehicle and the $50 salvage inspection fee. The Application for Inspection of a Salvaged Motor Vehicle will be returned to the customer. The customer must then bring the application, previous salvage title, bills of sale for all of the major component parts and the original CPM receipt, to the salvage inspection site . Inspections are conducted on a walk-in basis. A completed affidavit of Reconstruction or Restoration of a total loss form is also required.
