If you have renewed online previously, you will need to visit an RMV office to renew at this time. You cannot renew your license online if you: • Have a license photo that was taken before age 21 • Have a license photo that was taken more than nine (9) years ago • Hold a commercial driver’s license (CDL) • Need to change your name • Have initiated a “Change of Address” transaction on the RMV web site but have not yet received a confirmation e-mail • Want to register to vote • Do not have a Social Security Number Official Notice: Massachusetts law requires persons convicted of a sex offense to register with their local police departments. For more information, call 1-800-93MEGAN (1-800-936-3426). Important: To prevent a lapse in your license, complete this online transaction at least seven days before your license expires. The renewed license will be mailed to the address the RMV has on file. If you need to change your address, you may do so online.
