Chapter 6-11 School Bus “S” Endorsement Converting Out of State CDL Endorsements Due to the federal Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act (MCSIA) of 2006, all school bus operators must have a school bus “S” endorsement on their Commercial Driver’s Licenses, in addition to a DTE school bus certificate. A driver’s ability to operate a school bus will be affected by this new requirement. Any driver who does not meet this new requirement will not be allowed to drive a school bus.
