The Certificate of Origin must list the vehicle's body type as motorcycle or motor driven cycle and the cylinder capacity must meet the requirements for a motorcycle. Obtaining Titles for Out-Of-State Leases When a lessee moves to Massachusetts from out of state and now needs to register/title their leased vehicle, it is the customer's responsibility to acquire that title. Although an insurance agent may assist the customer, acquiring the title is the customer's responsibility. We recommend that the agent write up a cover letter on their agency letterhead explaining that they are the new agent and that the vehicle now needs to be registered and titled in Massachusetts. We also suggest that you send a copy of the RMV-1 showing just how this vehicle will be registered and request that the Leasing Company or Lien Holder forward the title directly to you, the agent, for processing at the RMV. The RMV will no longer accept titles that are mailed directly to the RMV from Leasing Companies or Lien Holders, these will be returned. 09/08 1:41
