The NATUFIA KITCHEN
GARDEN is a new technology solution. Based in
Estonia, NATUFIA's goal is to
grow herbs and vegetables
as close to consumers as
possible. "It's a hydroponic
machine that grows in an
organic way from seed
to plant," said NATUFIA's
Nick Sushkov. "Whatever
you want, you can grow."
The Kitchen Garden allows
users to grow produce at
home and eliminate the
negative environmental
impact associated with
food shipment, pesticide
use and pollution. Setup is
easy and all that is needed
is a plumbing hook-up
similar to your dishwasher
and a simple internet connection via Wi-Fi and app.
Once connected, order
seed capsules and micro
green packets, monitor
your grow cycle and adjust
watering settings.

Rotex showed its ELECTRONIC TATTOO, a hair-thin,
skin-soft sensor that can
be attached to any area
of skin and worn up to ten
days. "Depending on where
you wear it, it measures
different things," explained
Nanshu Lu, professor at
University of Texas, Austin,
and founder of Rotex. For
example, if a user wears
Rotex on their chest, it
produces an electrocardiogram of their heartbeat,
their respiratory rate and
their blood pressure. If worn
on a muscle, Rotex tracks
gestures and produces an
electromyogram or measurement of electric activity
within the muscle, allowing
the user to pilot a drone or
play a video game via the
electronic tattoo. If worn on
the skull, Rotex can measure
brainwaves - useful for
epilepsy. Rotex will begin
shipping this summer.

InfiVention Technologies,
from Mumbai, India, brought
the Square Off SMART CHESS
BOARD where users can play
chess against either the
embedded AI opponent,
or a remote, connected
user anywhere in the world.
When the player makes
a move, the responses are
automated, either on the
user's board (if playing the
AI opponent), or on the
opposing player's board.
The board also can "livestream" professional chess
matches by making the
professionals' moves appear
locally on the board, in real
time. An app allows the user
to set difficulty levels, play
tutorials and tweak other
options. "Eureka Park was
a great opportunity. We met
so many other startups," said
Aatur Mehta of InfiVention.
Square Off was backed via
a Kickstarter campaign in
November 2016.

Freewrite's SMART
TYPEWRITER offers
interference-free writing
on a sleek and modern unit
that combines timeless
design with modern
technology, allowing
users to write anywhere,
seamlessly sync their work
online, and bypass digital
distractions like email and
web-browsing. "This is
a distraction-free writing
tool for professional writers
that want an alternative to
writing on the computer,"
said Charlie Weikert of
Freewrite. "We are based
in New York. Freewrite was
originally on Kickstarter
in 2015 and we started
shipping this past year."
Also, through Wi-Fi, the
Freewrite allows users
to sync documents with
Dropbox, Evernote and
Google Drive.

Vinci, an audio technology
company, aims to reinvent
how users interact with
music. The Vinci and

that provide an AI-assisted
approach to music
streaming and listening.
Through powerful machine
learning, Vinci adapts
to user commands, preferences and the environment

said Vinci's Gina Hughes.
"There's 32GB of storage on
the headphones so you can
carry your library with you."
Vinci can be used without
a device, empowering
on-the-go listening without
a secondary device or app.
Its advanced algorithms
create a customized, realtime audio experience. ■
