Technology Accessible to All at CES 2017

 T

his year accessible
technology made
a huge splash at
CES. But accessible
technology is not just about
addressing the needs of those
with disabilities, it is also
about creating technology
that is accessible to all.

The CTA Foundation is proud to play
a part in the continuing inclusion of
accessible technology at CES. The second
annual Eureka Park Accessibility Contest,
in partnership with Extreme Tech Crunch,
selected five winners from emerging
startups with products that had the
potential to improve the quality of life for
aging adults and those with disabilities.
The winners were ActiveProtective,
Aira, Bansen Labs, Blitab and KinTrans.
Aira, a platform that connects blind and
low vision individuals with a certified virtual
agent to assist with navigation, was also
recognized by PC Mag and Engadget.
For the fifth consecutive year, in conjunction with the CTA Government and
Legal Affairs team, we hosted the Disability
Advocates Tour. This tour brought leaders
from disability advocacy organizations such
as Hearing Loss Association of America,
American Foundation for the Blind, World
Institute on Disability and Gallaudet
University to bridge the gap between advocacy
groups and industry by fostering relationships
to help make technology accessible to all.
The CTA Foundation also produced conference sessions that included Why Accessibility
Matters to Tech Leaders and Self-Driving Cars

New American
Jobs Summit
On May 3, CTA will host the
New American Jobs Summit in
Washington, DC, gathering
policymakers, industry leaders
and key influencers to examine
the future of jobs in the U.S.
Topics will explore how emerging tech trends  affect U.S. jobs
and how government and the
private sector can invest in
a competitive workforce, create
new high-wage jobs and foster
economic growth in the face
of rapid technological innovation, an aging population and
increased global competition.
