Many charismatic leaders in
the tech industry encourage
and inspire others. Shelley
Zalis, CEO of the Female
Quotient, is one of them. She
aims to foster equality in the
workplace through collaboration. And it all began at CES many years ago. A passionate advocate for women, she also believes that partnerships are a key to
success. Read our interview to see how her strategy to encourage
global companies to more effectively work together and expand
diversity not only benefits businesses, but also society.

n another front, because the
auto industry is going through
a massive tech disruption,
innovative partnerships
between automakers and startups are
becoming crucial to stay ahead of the
curve. Although automakers have plenty
of internal talent, investing in entrepreneurial companies allows them to quickly
expand their knowledge and expertise to
accelerate the development of new
technologies including self-driving cars.
Another important issue today are
cybersecurity threats that can impact any
business as well as products connected
to the Internet of Things. What solutions
are the industry and government groups
recommending to thwart these security
threats? Standards makers and regulators
stress they want to "align" policies and
principles so that security solutions work
effectively across many platforms and
devices. In "A Tech to Watch" we also
examine the security issues with 5G tech.
Artificial intelligence often seems like
a future development, but AI is already

impacting how we live. According to
CTA research, AI is growing in several
key areas like security, content creation
and curation, health care, digital assistants, self-driving vehicles and law
enforcement. However, many consumers don't realize their Alexa, Google
Assistant or Siri is already using AI to
answer your requests. IHS Markit found
roughly four billion devices already use
AI-powered voice assistants.
We also examine how Sony
Electronics, led by President and COO
Mike Fasulo, is elevating the customer
experience by focusing on independent and specialty retailers, as well as
the custom installation channel by
accentuating Sony's premium quality
