In a recent speech, Agrawal, the insurance/medical company's chief strategy
and corporate development officer,
said the firm is aggressively involved in
health tech initiatives. Humana's Studio
H, a digital health and analytics unit, is
focusing on projects including expanding telehealth into the home and primary care locations, expanding voice
recognition tools and managing medical provider workflow. Agrawal says
Humana will build some primary clinics and work with other companies as
it seeks ways to offer better care while
containing costs.

Best Buy is on a similar mission. It has invested more than $1
billion on health-related acquisitions toward creating a system for
monitoring and offering predictive care, aimed toward seniors.
The retailer is testing its projects with managed care organizations. One of Best Buy's acquisitions is a data sciences/engineering
firm that has developed the technology behind wearable sensors
that can detect falls and other conditions that affect seniors.
Investment firm Morgan Stanley says Best Buy, by concentrating on senior tech and building relationships with insurance and
health care organizations, is "evolving from sales of wearable
devices to the provision of health care services to seniors - Best
Buy's next frontier of growth."
In its 2019 report Connected Health and Remote Patient
Monitoring, CTA notes medical professionals and consumers are
aware of the value of remote monitoring for preventive health
