family. It's just random. A study of
4.7 million people born in Sweden
found that a baby's sex comes
down to chance.

Girls represented 49% of births and
boys were 51% of births in the U.S.
every year from 2009 to 2018

data about siblings to determine
whether families produce children
of the same sex. They found that
parents' genetics do not influence
the sex of their children.

Having elevated blood
pressure before age 30
is associated with slower
gait and reduced mental
performance at age 50,
according to an analysis
in the journal Circulation.
The study followed
191 participants over 30
years, beginning at ages
18 to 30. It measured
memory, attention and
planning, as well as gait
speed and stride length,
which can be indicators
of blood vessel function.
