Central Carolina HEALTH - Fall 2011 - (Page 2)

FROM THE CEO Meeting the Gold Standard … Three Times Over ver the past several years, we’ve been participating in the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines program in three areas: Heart Failure, Coronary Artery Disease and Stroke Care. I’m extremely proud to share with you that on June 29, we received the Gold Plus award for Stroke Care and are now a Triple Gold Recipient. In early January, we received the Gold Plus for Heart Failure and the Gold for Coronary Artery Disease. According to the AHA, of the 600 hospitals across the nation that have earned gold awards, Central Carolina Hospital is one of only 58 hospitals to achieve all three golds. Hospitals participate in the Get With The Guidelines program and are awarded Bronze, Silver, Gold or Gold Plus based on their length of participation for implementing national standards of care and evidence-based protocols for these three patient populations. The Gold level awards are presented to those facilities that achieve an 85 percent or higher adherence to all of the Get With The Guidelines quality achievement indicators for two or more consecutive 12-month periods. With the Gold Plus, the commitment includes selecting six additional quality measures and compliance of 75 percent or greater. These successes couldn’t have been achieved without the dedication and passion of our interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses and clinical staff who work with the patients while they are still in the hospital as well as the support staff who work behind the scenes to deliver quality patient care. So for helping us realize of our goal of becoming a Triple Gold recipient, I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone for helping us achieve these national quality distinctions. If you would like to share your thoughts with us, we invite you to call our Public Relations Department at (919) 774-2194 or email us at CentralCarolinaHospital@gmail.com. Sincerely, O Doug Doris, CEO Central Carolina Hospital 2 | FA L L 2 0 1 1
