WHAT’S NEW
Are You Ready for the Relay?
The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the country a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. This year, Relay is on Friday, May 13, at the Lion’s Club Fairgrounds. Opening ceremonies kick off the event at 5:30 p.m. with the Survivor Lap planned for 7 p.m. And there’s plenty to do throughout the night as well. As darkness approaches, the fairground track will be illuminated with hundreds of candlelit luminarias honoring and remembering those who’ve battled the disease. A variety of entertainment for all ages will continue on center stage, and tents along the outside of the track will offer foods, entertainment and various other items for a donation to the cause. It’s a carnival in and of itself! If you’ve never been to Relay, this year is the perfect time to start! Anyone can participate in Relay For Life—friends, families, neighbors, co-workers, and classmates—and the commitment is a registration fee of just $10.
