WHAT’S NEW Creating heer Cheer for the Holidays T welve children and 20 elderly in need had their wishes granted through Central Carolina Hospital’s annual Angel Tree project. To ensure that stockings were filled for the holidays, staff collected over 300 presents through the program. Gifts were chosen from wish lists created by the recipients and, in the case of the older adults, delivered in person by CCH staff. Presents for the children included bicycles, clothing, books, toys and educational games. The older adults were given necessary items such as shampoo and body wash but also seasonal clothing, gloves and booties, comforters, chocolates and cookies. The Angel Tree has been a tradition at CCH for almost a decade. Staff also donated 219 pounds of food items to the local food banks for the holidays, just after pledging over $14,000 for the United Way of Lee County.
