With that said, we invite you to explore our summer magazine. You may be surprised by what you learn about us. Our cover story features a patient from Sanford who struggled with knee pain. At 46, Suzy Clement was a perfect candidate for partial knee replacement using a breakthrough surgical technology that allows an orthopedic surgeon to use a robotic arm to precisely insert a prosthetic replacement. The placement is so exact that some patients are able to walk right away. We also spotlight one of our ﬁrst hip replacement patients who is experiencing similar success from MAKOplasty®, a new robotic technology we are proud to introduce to the area. (CCH is the only hospital in the Sandhills to offer it.) Linda Macormic is 65 and lived with hip pain for years. After a total hip replacement, she is living pain free today. CCH’s orthopedic surgeon Andrew Bush, MD, talks about this remarkable technology and how it’s helping many patients return to the activities in life they most enjoy. And lastly, our new catheterization lab opened in December. Since then we’ve been able to test many patients for heart disease, without them ever having to leave the Sanford community. Marie Carhart is one patient who needed stents for her heart but didn’t know it. A heart catheterization revealed she had clogged arteries that needed immediate attention. Today, Marie is back on the golf course at Carolina Trace. Whether you’re welcoming a new baby or recovering from surgery or illness, our staff is here to help you and your loved ones.
