Planned Infusion Center to offer chemo treatments in a warm, spa-like setting In 2010, more than 1.5 million Americans were diagnosed with cancer. In the course of their care, many of these patients will receive chemotherapy as part of their treatment, and for some, the need to travel out of the area to receive their treatments is a real hardship. To help in our community, Washington Hospital plans to open a new chemotherapy infusion center in fall 2011. The Washington Hospital Infusion Center is designed to be a state-of-the-art facility, flooded with natural light and featuring four infusion stations in a spa-like setting. Patients will have as much privacy as they like, or alternatively they can receive care in a group setting with others TOp H aT Sat XXV Men’s Health Fair: Take Charge of Your Health Saturday, Sept. 10 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Washington Hospital’s annual Men’s Health Fair will feature informational presentations and a panel discussion to answer your questions Mark Saleh, M.D., a Washington Hospital urologist, will be one of the featured speakers at the annual Men’s Health Fair on Saturday, Sept. 10. 2011 Children’s Health and Safety Fair: Fun Tricks and Healthy Treats Saturday, Oct. 29 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Washington Hospital Children’s Health and Safety Fair features interactive games and activities that focus on health and safety information for children and families. This free event will feature entertainment, and booths will offer information on several children’s health and safety issues including topics such as asthma and asthma checks, information on health insurance for children, and healthy eating for children. The always-popular Teddy Bear Clinic is staffed with doctors and nurses from Washington Hospital offering checkups to beloved teddy bears and stuffed animals. Children are encouraged to bring their teddy bears to visit the doctor. To help celebrate Halloween, children and family members are encouraged to come in costume. The Children’s Health and Safety Fair will be held inside the Conrad E. Anderson, M.D. Auditorium at Washington West, 2500 Mowry Ave., in Fremont. Immediately following the lectures will be an interactive health fair with cholesterol and blood sugar screenings, informa- tion on diabetes, exercise and rehabilitation, nutrition and much more.
