It's a Team Effort Teams from UMMC and UMMC Midtown Campus merge to provide even greater care at the UM Center for Diabetes & Endocrinology I f you live in the United States, chances are you know someone who has diabetes. A metabolism disorder, diabetes affects nearly 26 million children and adults in this country and can affect everything from the eyes and heart to the nerves and feet. The good news is, this chronic condition can be managed thanks to advances in diabetes and endocrinology research, expanded patient education, and a multidisciplinary team of specialists working together to develop individualized treatment plans. This three-pronged approach is one that physicians at the University of Maryland Center for Diabetes & Endocrinology (UMCDE) strongly believe in. Recently, physicians from the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) and University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus joined forces to open a one-stop shop for diabetes and endocrinology care. The UMCDE moved to a brand-new space at UMMC Midtown Campus to provide adult and pediatric patients with access to expert care and greater treatment options in a convenient, comfortable setting.
