LETTER FROM THE CEO SPECIALIZED CANCER CARE EXPANDS The Cancer Institute at the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center has taken another step forward to provide our community with the most advanced cancer care. Read on page 14 about how we're now a recognized affiliate with the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center. This provides patients with access to a wide range of new therapies offered through clinical trials at the Greenebaum Cancer Center, many of which are only available at an academic cancer center. The University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center is among a select group of cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute for their scientiﬁc excellence. It is ranked in the top 50 cancer centers by U.S.News & World Report and is a major referral center throughout Maryland and the region. At UM St. Joseph Medical Center, we provide state-of-the-art cancer care with a multidisciplinary approach-just as the Greenebaum Cancer Center does. We bring together specialists to develop the best possible treatment plan for each patient. We now have a seamless process to refer patients who need additional highly specialized surgery or other treatments to our Greenebaum Cancer Center colleagues in order to enhance our patients' continuum of cancer care. We are very proud to be able to bring the latest cancer advancements to Baltimore County.
