Our staff is helping women learn ways to cope with their concerns about developing cancer and make informed decisions about reducing their risk. Through a special, supervised cardiac rehabilitation program, heart patient Bob Lewis was able to keep a 45-year-old promise to his wife (page 49). A new service—the only one like it in Northwest Indiana—allows patients seeking emergency care to preview wait times and register to hold their place in line, all without leaving their homes or offices. Our cardiologists are using new technology that offers longer-lasting relief for patients like Daniel Kornelik of Calumet City, Ill., who once lived with a painful, debilitating condition called PAD. Community Hospital is the first in Northwest Indiana to participate in a related study, adding a “custom-tailored” treatment to the options available (page 52). Your prescription medication is being delivered to you with the highest level of accuracy, thanks to added security provided by robotic technology (page 56).
