PCRMC physician and state legislator stays connected to community by continuing to care for patients O 6 By Kristen Jump rthopedic surgeon Keith Frederick, D.O., is well known by patients at The Frederick Knee Clinic at PCRMC for his expertise and caring. Now even more people know him as their representative to the state legislature. Dr. Frederick began his first term in the House of Representatives this January, serving on four House committees: Professional Registration and Licensure, Health Insurance, Health Care Policy and Elementary and Secondary Education. He is the vice chairman of the House Committee for Health Care Policy. And during his service to our community and state, he continues to see patients at the Knee Clinic. “I enjoy fixing broken bones and worn-out joints, but there are some things broken in our government as well,” Dr. Frederick says. “However, when you are just in the legislature and not involved in work, you run the risk of becoming isolated. In medicine you can really keep your finger on the pulse of the community. When I come back to Rolla and see patients and take care of them, it keeps me well grounded with the people I represent.” Vim & Vigor • SUM M ER 2 011
