Remaking a Statement Board approves new mission and vision statements for PCRMC By SOMER OVERSHON PCRMC Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation/Strategy Officer Lynn Wieties P W helps County Regional Medical Center (PCRMC) announced its new mission and vision statements for the organization at its board of trustees meeting in March. The existing mission and vision statements were restructured to fit the direction and current transformation of the healthcare system in the United States. “The past 10 years or so, the mission and vision statements served our needs; they characterized the areas we wanted to concentrate on and maintain. During this period of time, our direction was on service excellence as well as growth,” says PCRMC Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation/Strategy Officer Lynn Wieties. “Today, our goal is to continue to concentrate our focus on our patients as well as maintain and improve the health of our community. We also want to direct our attention to the world-class services we offer, and how we bring those services home to the patient.” ieties says the fact that PCRMC’s high-quality services are offered at the community level resonates with PCRMC’s patients. “We have found many of our patients are thankful, and even relieved, that they no longer have to drive long distances to receive top-notch healthcare,” she says. “Providing worldclass healthcare close to home is so important to people, because it allows them to stay close to their loved ones and in the places they are the most comfortable.” The new mission and vision statements were a work in progress for several months. “We really concentrated on the words and the meanings they conveyed, because we wanted the statements to accurately reflect the direction the organization was taking as well as the employees’ sentiments,” says Wieties. “We talked to our major stakeholders including employees, patients, physicians and representatives of our community to get their perspective on how they viewed the organization and its future direction. Their insights and encouraging comments helped to affirm our thoughts that PCRMC really is an outstanding establishment: in service, people, quality, finance and growth. All of these are key elements as to how PCRMC is able to bring ‘world-class healthcare close to home.’ ” PCRMC’s New Mission Statement: “To provide every resident in our community the opportunity for optimal health through access to world-class, patient-centered healthcare, delivered safely, efficiently and effectively, close to home.” PCRMC’s New Vision Statement: “We will be our community’s first choice for health and medical services by providing world-class, patient-centered healthcare that promotes wellness, restores health and relieves suffering, swiftly, safely and compassionately through responsible stewardship with integrity and innovation in the management of all available resources.” John R.
