MARY MEDICAL CENTER Quality BY MARY FETSCH St. Mary Medical Center expands with 55,000-square-foot outpatient center in Valparaiso R at Your Doorstep esidents of Porter and La Porte counties soon will have the quality services of St. Mary Medical Center closer to home. Construction is under way on the hospital’s new Valparaiso Health Center—a 55,000square-foot outpatient center just east of Indiana 49, off Burlington Beach Road. “Valparaiso Health Center represents Community Healthcare System’s long-standing history of helping bring a higher quality of life and health to the residents of our communities,” says John Gorski, chief operating ofﬁcer of Community Healthcare System. “As a Northwest Indiana-based not-for-proﬁt healthcare system, we have a commitment to reinvesting into the technologies and services that contribute to the strength and vitality of our neighborhoods and the people we serve.” The new Valparaiso Health Center will feature an Immediate Care facility with the support of full-service imaging (CT, MRI, mammography, X-ray, ultrasound and bone densitometry), clinical laboratory services and a hospital-based physical therapy and rehabilitation program. Specialists in family and internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, weight loss services, integrative and functional medicine, surgery and a variety of medical specialties will round out the spectrum of services available for patients. “We serve a signiﬁcant number of patients from the Valparaiso area, and this new outpatient center brings together our quality services in another convenient, readily accessible location,” says Janice Ryba, CEO of St. Mary Medical Center. “The new Valparaiso Health Center is an extension of the high-quality, patient-centered medical services available through our hospital, and it’s an important link in our ability to help build healthier communities.” EXPANDING OUR CARE NETWORK In addition to the Porter County Primary Care physician group, physician practices from the St. Mary Care Network will expand their operations to the new facility.
